In 2008, my faithful wife Lizzie and I heard the Lord's command and said YES to a move from the big city of Wichita to a small house on 3rd Avenue in El Dorado, Kansas.  This simple, 25-mile step of blind faith opened the doors to boundless blessing, discipline and newfound experiences in the abundant life of Jesus Christ.

Many songs were birthed in my spirit during our stay at this little house. Sometimes born out of tears of anguish, sometimes weeping joy, sometimes in deep waters of revelation and other times in complete frustration - each of them was a "word in season" for me and my small family. Soon, these “prayer closet songs” became words of faith for the body, as we began singing them in multiple house church groups and Sunday morning worship services.

On December 31, 2010, I sensed the Lord's leading to record seven of the songs I'd written. My friend Tyler Norris and my brother Tyler Brickley had the same leading, and the three of us embarked on this 9-month-long journey in January with Psalms 119:171-172 as our prayer, "Let my lips pour forth praise…Let my tongue sing of your word…"

I’ve ordered the songs chronologically so you can hear the progressive journey of revelation in the lyrics over time.  From "opened eyes"  to a "rested soul" - the Lord has been faithful.  My prayer is that these simple songs would open your heart to the one true King, Jesus Christ, and meet you as an encouraging word in your season.

“OPEN MY EYES” | MP3
Psalms 43:3 - May 2008

Open my eyes, open my heart
‘Till I know Your love
Send forth Your light, fill and satisfy
‘Till I know Your love

We praise the worthy One
As we lift our voice, we sing as one

You are holy and righteous and just and true
And worthy of all my days
You are holy and righteous and just and true
And worthy of highest praise
I worship You, I worship You
We worship You, We worship You

“PREPARE MY HEART” | MP3
Eph. 3:17, Psalms 42:5 - Aug. 2009

Prepare my heart for You
Prepare my heart for You
Come and make Your home in me

Break my will to You
Break my will to You
Come and form Yourself in me

I’m hungry for You, the bread of life
I’m hungry for You, the bread of life to my soul
You’re bread of life to my soul
You’re bread of life

I’m thirsty for You, the living water
I’m thirsty for You, the living water to my soul
You’re living water to my soul
You’re living water

Why so downcast, O my soul?
Why so downcast, O my soul?
He is good, He is good
And His love it never fails

You are good, You are good
And Your love it never fails

Come and make Your home in me
Come and form Yourself in me

“REST YOUR SOULS” | MP3
Matt. 11:28-30 - Jan. 2011

You and me we’ll live forever
But You and me live like we’re never gonna die
And stand before a throne
Answer to a God for all we’ve done

You and me we build together
This house on sand and we feel better
But here comes the rain here comes the groan
Are we happy here, is this our home?

We’re all so soundly sleeping

What if we stopped loving money
And using God, ain’t it funny
How simple life could really be
Living like a child worry free

We’re all so heavy laden

Oh! Come to me all who carry loads of burden
And I will give you rest, I will give you rest
Come! learn from Me for I am meek and lowly
And you will find rest, you will find rest
For your souls

“MIGHTY GOD” | MP3
Eph. 5:8, Gal. 5:1 - Sept. 2008

We once were darkness, but now we’re light
We once were cowards, but now we fight
We once were servants, now we’re sons
We once were beaten, but now we’ve won
We once were blind, but now we see
We once were shackled, but now we’re free
We are free!

You O God, are the mighty God
You O God, are the healing God
You O God, are the mighty healer
You O God, are the faithful father
You O God, are the mighty God

Praise the Lord, who sets us free!
(Praise our mighty God)
Praise the Lord, who sets us free!
(Praise our healing God)

Who are we, that You would see us
Who are we, that You would hear us

“TIME TO RISE” | MP3
Eph. 5:14, Rom 13:11 - Nov. 2009

The day is upon us, the hour is at hand
King Jesus is coming, and He will have this land

TIme to rise, time to rise, time to rise
And He will shine on us

The hour is upon us
To be raised from sleep
Salvation is nearer
Than when we first believed

Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead
The night’s almost over, the day is at hand
Wake up O sleeper, rise from the dead
Jesus is coming, He’s coming again

You and me, Oh we agree
That worry free’s the place to be
But don’t forget responsibility
And don’t forget a nicer house
And don’t forget retirement accounts
‘Cause God helps those who learn to help themselves

We’re all so busy working

For His yoke is easy
His burden is light

‘Cause if flowers and
Birds are on His mind
Then you and me
Will be just fine
“NEAR” | MP3
Psalms 75:1; 119:71 - Nov. 2008

My cup runneth over now
My tears are filled with joy
My Lord has overwhelmed my soul
My soul rejoice

He’s been good to me
What have I to fear
Knowing He is near

My Lord, He upholds me now
My desires He satisfies
My Lord has opened up His hand
And He provides

You’ve been good to me
What have I to fear
Knowing You are near
You are good (even when I don’t see)
You are good (even when I don’t feel)
You are good (even when I don’t hear)
You are near, You are near

“PSALMS 23” MP3
May 2010

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not be in want
He is good to me
He leads me beside still waters of rest
He restores my soul
He prepares a table in the presence of my foes
My cup overflows
Yea though I walk through the valley of death
You are here! You are here with me
Goodness and mercy shall follow me
You are good to me
You are faithful, ever faithful
